A s ' With quarterback Pat Flood heading our stu j ent body as prexy, THS kicked off to a fine start this year. Ably assisting were: Veep, John Barnett, Secretary, Sandra Carson, Treasurer, Mary Sinclair and members of the Student Council. This excellent team working together helped THS achieve many outstanding goals during the year. , Among these goals was the banishing of obscene literature in books and magazines around Tucson. Representatives from Tucson, X 1 Salpoint, and Amphitheatre high schools formed a committee which worked throughout the year, finding out what books were undesirable and nf, then asking the different establishments which sold them to take them off the newsstands. Another proiect was promoting better school l 'f spirit. Red and White Day, a tradition which :'- has not been too well observed in years be- fore, was really given a boost. The council also chartered buses for students to go to the Phoenix Union game in October. There was no K' pep squad but the entire student body partici- pated at the games and cheered our teams to victory. The kickoff of social activity at THS was a mixer held in September in which any organiza- tion could participate. Student Council also if-J sponsored a carnival.
