Government by the students, of the students, and for the students! Our student council, elected last spring with the exception of the sophomore rep- resentatives, went into full swing last fall. Sophomore representatives were elected at the first of the vear along with their class officers As a good start on December 5 our school was represented bv five prominent students Prina Stanley Patsy OR1elly Fred Sargent Darlene Homar and Jim Quick at a state convention in Holbrook Arizona Prina was the only Tuc on rep resentatixe to speak at the convention Her topic was How to Interest High School Students in the Teaching Profes sion At mid semester for the first time in the history of our high school an election for student body president was held Lee Carey who had contemplated remaining throughout the year was graduated in January leaving his post vacant The candidates for this electlcn were Brad Tolson and Grant Howard With a mai gin of about sex enty votes Grant slipped thiough to become president for the re mainder of the year IRIXX SIXNIPY V L-he-:G-0 qaqduzafgali ar.-5 .J J CHET X XSPX AND LORPAINI' LXPPRLH The Councils specific project tor the second semester was to codify the Student Government Constitution Sexeral sec tions had to be rewrltten so that they mole understandable The bv laws needed to be changed and It was necessary to put parts of the constitution under applo priate headings At thc final election ln May the whole student body had a chance to vote on the codification of the constitu tion The outstanding winners xx ho lcd and lnspired our high school this past xear weie Grant How ud president Chet xfasev vice president Lorralne Calflev secretarv Prina Stanley councilman at large Patsy OR1el1y and Fred Sargent senior councilmen Don Bacon and Ned HutLhlDSOl1 Jun or councilmen and Dar lene Homar and Jim Quick sophimoie councilmen lil! v I r 'ye . n 3 I yy y D I 1 G .
