AUHIIHISTHHTIHH son. The theme of the convention, in which 28 schools were represented, was Youth and Post-War. As president of the host school, Joe Goff auto- matically became head of the convention and presided at all panel discussions and business meetings. Secretary Bessie Mae Boyer was in charge of registration of dele- gates and also kept minutes of the proceed- ings. From 8:30 a. m. until 10:30 a. m. the out-of- town visitors toured the grounds and build- ings of T. H. S., after which the school presi- dents were introduced to the entire Tucson student body at an assembly in the stadium. The morning session of the convention open- ed at 1:25 a. m. in the auditorium with Goff presiding. The following addresses were given by the various delegates: Education in Peace, Compulsory Military Training, The G. I. Bessie Mae Boyer After an informal luncheon for the delegates, held in the cafeteria, the afternoon session got underway, and consisted for the most part of panel discussions on subjects raised during the morning. The delegates were invited to attend the Senior Prom in the evening. Slllllllll The Student Council of Tucson Senior High School meets and is called to order. The docket is full. In rapid succession the busi- ness of the day is presented, discussedg de- cisions are made, plans for their administra- tion set forth, then checked off. The meet- ing is adjourned. Out into the halls go these council members, to fade into the daily rou- tine of classes, athletics and social activities, to mingle with their fellow students and to gain from them the opinions and suggest- ions upon which they will base their de- cisions when they next meet as members of the governing body of T. H. S. These were your student administrators, your representatives for the year 1944-45g Joe Goff, presidentg Gordon Jiggs Lent, vice-presidentg and Bessie Mae Poozie Boy- er, secretary. Councilman-at-large was Lowell Bailey. Senior councilmen were Rosemary Brooks and Jim Drachmang junior councilmen, Craig Smith and Bob Boiceg and sophomore councilmen, Roy Romero, Vernor Lovett, and Catherine Chakiris. Faculty adviser for the council was Dean of Boys, Andy M. Tolson.
