For some it was a reunion with old friends, for others it was their first visit to a foreign port. Subic was not a sightseeing port, it was a time for making repairs, bringing on supplies, and general upkeep of the ship. Of course it was not all work, there were plenty of night clubs, to visit in the evenings, offering a variety of entertainment. On weekends there were sports events, beaches, trips and lots of shopping to keep the off duty sailor busy. Upon our arrival at Subic a very interesting lecture was presented by the Naval Station Security Officer about what to watch out for when in town on liberty. The city of Olongapo was off limits from 0100 to 0400 to all personnel, but most of us managed to have a good time in spite of the curfew. FRUM HGME
