D-S D J C-Pi T J on Tb President Eugene Fair we respectfully dedicate this book. We feel that his life and work are stronger arguments than mere words Lo describe the incalculable amount of the better things he has instilled in both the college and its students through efforts and examples set by ten years of unparalleled service. THE ECHO STAFF Another year has gone its way Autumn's seared leaves have floated to earth, Winter's chill winds and mantle of snow Seem hut gliding yesterdays. But they are gone as shadows from the new born dawn Now comes spring's triumphant smile The singing soaring lark in early mom' The soft green grass, the tender flowers. Bidding us all salute the “gates of heaven They too, will pass in summer's blazing heat. Quintessence of each are echoes, memories. Replete in this our yearly book. They hold for us a measured charm. Clear call for noble actions in the coming years. - Eugene Fair. WE SHALL LOOKnoWKHE1 I NOT DEAR. AT INCIDENTS, NOW HU.D p(JNt BUT L ATER. AM LR AL RECALL IT s Wm. Crutchfield, Jr- DUCflTIOft poasujoftE) j”H ROUGH the splendid co- operation of the students and faculty members this book has a higher representation of K. S. T. C. personalities than any previous Echo. A unique feature of the 1935 Echo is, every time an individual appears in the various classes and organizations he has a different pose of himself. No one pose of the same person appears more than once throughout the book. We have endeavored to illustrate our school as we would like you to remember it and everybody to know it, tying together the things of the past to that which is to come. orjTsirrs Administration Classes Athletics Organizations Campus Echoes JOSEPH BALDWIN, founder of rhe American “fouryear teachers college; scholar and skillful classroom teacher. He was first among Americans to say: “The profession.il teacher, from kindergar' ten to high school inclusive, should have scholarship equaling the best that colleges can furnish; and that “Such scholarship should be interwoven with professional studies and some directed student teaching. JOHN R. KIRK, student, scholar;adminis- trator, classroom tactician, builder of sanitary rural schools. He says: Teaching is the highest function in all education, that “Good teaching secures evidence of some productive activity by every student in every class every day; and that, Lecturing and quizzing do not and can not do this. A seven-game schedule was arranged but due to continual rains only one match with the Osteopaths was played, along with the annual M.I.A.A. Conference State Meet. In the M.I.A.A. Conference Meet Captain Troester lost to Sharp of Springfield in the second round. Sharp later won the State Singles Championship of the Conference. Kirksville's second entry, Guthrie, was eliminated by Manley the Cape Girardeau entrant, who turned out to be the runner-up in the final singles play-off. Captain Troester and Ci utchfield, teamed together in doubles, lost a hard fought match to the Maryville doubles team, who won second honors in the Conference Meet. Members of the varsity team were: Captain Carl Troester, Jr., Kirksville; William Crutchfield, St. Charles, and David Guthrie, Chillicothe.
