Let Us Be Known By Cur Deeds CLASS FLOWER: Yellow Tea Rose CLASS COLORS: Lavender and Yellow The twenty eighth day of May nineteen hundred fifty four, fifty eight seniors received their diplomas. This was the largest graduating class in the history of Truman High School. Now after graduation we realize the past memories shall always be cherished by the members of our class. As we balance the ledger of learning, we feel that the high school years have greatly increased our ability for the solving of future problems. On the lighter side, through the extra curricular activities, spice was added to our high school days. The responsibilities in connection with the various functions taught us many things, because, here again, we learned by doing. Class members readily participated in the wide field of activities offered. The faculty acknowledged the following students for their leadership: Journalism: Darla Johnson and Marilyn Heinemann. Declamation: Coral Rhode, Arlene Pierson, and Bonnie Rhoden. Vocal: Florene Smith and Roger Jones. Band: Lou Ann Ebert, Alice Klaus, and Marilyn Heinemann. Sports: Jerry Teig, Roger Jones, Donald Brownlee, Dean Williams, and Jerry Johnson. The knowledge we have gained through guidance received here should help us fulfill our motto 'Let Us Be Known By Our Deeds.n Seholastically High Left to right: Naomi Leng, Audrey Engel, Geneen Schoonover, Darla Johnson, Mary Ann Nelson, Roger Jones, Marilyn Heinemann, Geraldine W1ldes,Goral Rhode, Phyllis Zoellmer. 8
