Going Away to College Means Growing Up The first days of being a freshman are eye-openers and the drowsiness of fitting in does not arrive until the new student makes several adjust ments. When Mother is not around it is amazing how dirty dishes pile up, clothes are destroyed on the wrong temperature, and com- mon colds turn into strep throat. Sooner or later books are ac tually studied, checking ac counts are overdrawn and calls from home are relished. Troy State University like any other institution of higher edu cation is designed to above all else educate but with the educa tion comes a great deal of grow ing up on the part of the stu dent Going away to college means adjusting to a new school in a new town There are no people hovering over you telling you to be successful You make it on your own.
