Senior Class .History On September, 1956, the doors of Carthage-Troy opened with 51 Freshmen eager to start their first year in high school. In frustration of finding our home room classes, and getting lost, we were well on our way of feeling very much at home within a few days. We elected our class officers as follows; President - David Lockhart; Vice President - Darlene Barnhart; Treasurer - Judi Dawson; Secretary - Dianne Butcher; News Reporter - Lynda Henry. Marlene Warner, class Historian for all four years. Our class advisors were Mrs. Poole and Mr. Cordray. In 1957, we again entered the door of Carthage-Troy for our Sophomore year with 46 students. Our advisor was Mr. Miller. In starting out the year we elected the following officers; President - Scott Burdette; Vice President - David Lockhart; Treasurer -Judi Dawson; Secretary - Darlene Barnhart; News Reporter - Dianne Butcher. During the past year we lost several of our classmates: Ralph Giffin, Charles Rood, Bill Shelton, Junior Pullins, Shelva Scott. Rosie Taylor, Dewey Depoy, Shirley VanNess, Walter Dobbs. In 1958, there were 35 Juniors starting out the year. Mr. Page was our advisor. Now that we felt like upper classmen we all took part in school activities. Our basketball team won the Athens County Tournament. We also were proud of our Junior play, They Went That-A-Way. But most of all our Junior Prom. Our class officers were; President - David Lockhart; Vice President - Gary Butcher; Treasurer - Richard Ackley; Secretary - Jim Bernard; News Reporter - Scott Burdette. During the past year we lost Judy Howard, Sandra Thompson, Gay Shinn, Sarah Bamhouse, Stella Kimble, Lynda Henry, Dianne Butcher, Loretta Gramham, and Edwin Holbert. In 1959, we entered the halls of Carthage-Troy for the last time. Our class officers for our last year were; President - Barry Halsey; Vice President - Jack Dobb; Treasurer - Richard Bailey; Secretary - Judi Dawson; News Reporter - David Lockhart. Our advisor was Mr. Cooley. We would like to thank Mr. Cooley for the help, suggestions, and understanding during the past year. We are also proud of Judi Dawson and Terri Root for having been Varsity Cheerleaders. We the Seniors of 1960 - hope the following Seniors enjoy their last year at Carthage-Troy as much as we did.
