KOEHLER Senior Class .History On September, 1956, the doors of Carthage-Troy opened with 51 Freshmen eager to start their first year in high school. In frustration of finding our home room classes, and getting lost, we were well on our way of feeling very much at home within a few days. We elected our class officers as follows; President - David Lockhart; Vice President - Darlene Barnhart; Treasurer - Judi Dawson; Secretary - Dianne Butcher; News Reporter - Lynda Henry. Marlene Warner, class Historian for all four years. Our class advisors were Mrs. Poole and Mr. Cordray. In 1957, we again entered the door of Carthage-Troy for our Sophomore year with 46 students. Our advisor was Mr. Miller. In starting out the year we elected the following officers; President - Scott Burdette; Vice President - David Lockhart; Treasurer -Judi Dawson; Secretary - Darlene Barnhart; News Reporter - Dianne Butcher. During the past year we lost several of our classmates: Ralph Giffin, Charles Rood, Bill Shelton, Junior Pullins, Shelva Scott. Rosie Taylor, Dewey Depoy, Shirley VanNess, Walter Dobbs. In 1958, there were 35 Juniors starting out the year. Mr. Page was our advisor. Now that we felt like upper classmen we all took part in school activities. Our basketball team won the Athens County Tournament. We also were proud of our Junior play, They Went That-A-Way. But most of all our Junior Prom. Our class officers were; President - David Lockhart; Vice President - Gary Butcher; Treasurer - Richard Ackley; Secretary - Jim Bernard; News Reporter - Scott Burdette. During the past year we lost Judy Howard, Sandra Thompson, Gay Shinn, Sarah Bamhouse, Stella Kimble, Lynda Henry, Dianne Butcher, Loretta Gramham, and Edwin Holbert. In 1959, we entered the halls of Carthage-Troy for the last time. Our class officers for our last year were; President - Barry Halsey; Vice President - Jack Dobb; Treasurer - Richard Bailey; Secretary - Judi Dawson; News Reporter - David Lockhart. Our advisor was Mr. Cooley. We would like to thank Mr. Cooley for the help, suggestions, and understanding during the past year. We are also proud of Judi Dawson and Terri Root for having been Varsity Cheerleaders. We the Seniors of 1960 - hope the following Seniors enjoy their last year at Carthage-Troy as much as we did. Sue Faber, Coral Rowley, Mary Gross. junior Play-. “Zhey Went Zhat-a-Way” Seeing the future in ’70 I, Donna Dailey, now married to the manager of one of the largest fruit packing companies in the state of California, am on my way to meet two old classmates with whom I graduated ten years ago. As I was leaving my home in Palm Springs I noticed the mailman coming. As he came closer, I could see it was Bob Staten. He said he has been transferred from Alaska, because he kept forgetting to put on his coat when he went out. Bob also told me that Jack Cowdry was now running for Governor of Alaska. I asked him if he ever heard from any other classmates of ours and he said Elmer Harvey was sent to Virginia to inspect peanuts. Then Bob went on delivering his mail. My cab arrives and who is the driver but Art Yeater; he is married and owns a Taxi Co. He said that Tom Powell and John Brookover are sports car drivers for the Famous Ron Workman Dare Devils. He lets me out at Deno’s where I am to meet my former classmates, Darlene Barnhart and Freda Pullins. I saw them sitting at a table and I joined them. We were so excited to see each other again! Freda is a head nurse at the Walter Reed Hospital. She said that Terri Root and Chris Guthrie have just returned from a trip abroad. Terri, Chris, and Sandy Shanks are co-owners of a Beauty Salon in New York. She said Phil Harris is a Research Scientist in his own lab. Richard Ackley has built a rocket ship that will take ten people to the moon; but will not bring them back! Herbert Schul is a Professor of Science at Ohio State. Bary Halsey is an Admiral in the Navy. Sam Hatifield has written a book entitled I was a Teenage Husband, along with many others which are well known. Jerry Adkins owns a Barber Shop in Coolville, Ohio. Darlene and Gary Butcher are Marriage counselors in Los Angeles. Darlene said while she and Gary were vacationing in Hawaii, they saw singer Dick Bailey accompanied with Larry Hopkins on the guitar. Carol Rowley is married to an oil-well owner in Texas. Juanita Grim is a minister at Columbus, Ohio and Donna Gorrell is a missionary in Africa. We were ready to order lunch and Ruth Slisher was our waitress. She talked to us for awhile. She said that Harry Nibert was the owner of a chain of Fat Boy Restaurants. Jim Bernard is a Dairy farm owner in Maine. We told Ruth we were in a hurry since Freda had to fly back to Washington on the afternoon flight. While waiting for our lunch, we heard a fanfare. Startled we three looked up. There was a style show that day. We were more surprised to see the leading models - they were Judi Dawson and Marlene Warner assisted by Margaret Windland. Judi and Marlene own their own Fashion and Modeling school. They chatted with us for a while. Larry Fore and Jack Dodd are playing professional Basketball for the New York Lakers. Dave Lockhart is coach at C. T., and Joe Crites is History Teacher also at C. T. On my way home I picked up a paper and on the front page read that Scott Burdette, famous comedian, was the proud father of triplets! My day is done and I go home with the hope that the next ten years is as prosperous for my classmates as the last ten have been!!! Varsity basketball ROW I: Carl McPherson and Elmer Harvey, managers.
