MUSIC NEWS The mixed chorus this year is the largest in the history of our school. Of an enrollment of 95 in the upper six grades, 77 sing in the chorus. The perfor- mance at Christmas time was very commendable, and we selected the following four numbers for Commencement: Donke Serenade by Frinel, The Slumber Boat by Gaynor, Chia anecas by CMexicanl, and Incline Thlne Ear,-QLord y r angelsky. LaQ,uitta Walker is the llbrarian. J The enrollment of the senior band is L3 this year. The new members are: Nancy Kurfess-- iccolog Benny Langell--fluteg Mary Langell--snare drumg Glen Well- ing--baritoneg Billy Loomis--tromboneg Jack Biler-- sousaphone. The piccolo was glven to the band by the MoEHerS Club. One of our most important engagements of the year was on February 16 when we played at the Magnesium Reduction Company for the awarding of the Army and Navy MEN pennant. The band received a check for 350 in appreciation of our work. We are very grateful to the company and want them to know that we appreciate it. Saturday night, February 26, we play- ed in Bowling Green for the finals in the basketball tournament. Just one new member has been added to the orchestra this year--Benny Langell, flutist. The orchestra play- ed for the Junior and Senior plays and Commencement. The members of the junior band this year are: Clar- inets--Arla Christen, Jeannean Wilson, Marilyn Miller, Fobert Aspacher, Helen Ruth Snyder, Joanne Schroederg Alto Horn--Ray Fordg Trumpet--Roger Ernsthauseng Bass Erum--Flchard Samson. There are just two beginning instrumentalists: Carol Jean Rolf--Violin and Nola Dean Kinker--Saxo- phone. The toy band, as usual, consists of all members of the first and second grades. Ruth Miller is the ac- companist. The routine this year is a little differ- ent. We are incorporating marching and clapping with the regular toy band work. This group played four numbers at the Christmas operetta. David Jacobs is the drum major.

FQOTBALL The l9L3 football squad consisting of thirteen boys, four of whom were lettermen, turned in another success- ful season by scoring 232 points to their opponents' 121. The guest speaker at the annual athletic banquet sponsored by the Civic Club was Forest Creason.
