They employed several different offenses, the single wing and a variation of the T formation. Neither offense seemed to do much good, because of a lack of experience. Larry Reder, a senior quarterback, led the team in scoring with 20 points. He received a lot of help from his halfbacks, Mick Koehler and Bill Herring. One highlight of the season took place during the Sts. Peter and Paul game. With the ball deep in Troy territory, Mick Koehler ran 90 yards for a touchdown. This brought new hope to the squad and spectators. Although the Trojans had an unsuccessful season the most important thing of all, spirit was not lost. TOM SMITH Center I The Trojans have fought a tough battle the whole season. We lost our first game which was with Robinson by a small margin of 4 points. That seems to be how the whole season went this year. Many games were lost by less than 5 points. Coach Caven was our coach for the 64-65 season. He helped the team in every way he could but it just wasn't enough. We had some tough opponents and each team we played had us by height or had a couple of shot crazy players. Even though the Trojans had a poor season we never gave up trying. In the last game of the season we came within 3 points of Robinson. The leading scorer for the Trojans this year was Eddie Smith with a 14 point average for 14 games. He was followed closely by Roger Clary and Larry Reder with 12 and 10 point averages for 16 games. He had a room all to himself and a daughter who didn't care whether he lived or died. His outlook changed when an elderly man with appendicitis and a concerned daughter who wanted the best there is entered the hospital. Jim Smith received the best actor award; the play itself received second place in the league. Grapefruit fairy Please omit flowers When you go white. Nightingale . . . 3 F.F.A. Barnwarming Every year the Future Farmers of America crown one of the local farm girls their F.F.A. sweetheart. To achieve this honor, the girls must compete in some common farm tasks to determine which of the girls would make a better farm hand. The candidates this year were Vicki Gaul, Diana Wiedmer, and Linda Gaul. Their first task was to saddle a horse. Without the guidance from the owner of the horse, the girls would have put the saddle on backwards. The next job was to start a gas engine, determining their mechanical ability. Only one of the girls got a sputter from the engine. The last chore for the girls was one they really enjoyed. The boys turned three pigs loose on the football field to see which girl could catch a pig first. The girls were willing to go through these hardships to be crowned F. F. A. Sweetheart. At ceremonies that evening at the Barnwarmer Dance, Diana Wiedmer was crowned queen. 33 Christmas Week % The Key Club again sponsored special religious assemblies the second week before Christmas. Guest speakers were Rev. Campbell. Father Hall, Rev. Landis, and Rev. Chrystie, all shown above. Parents’ Appreciation Banquet International Trustee John Richardson of the Kansas-Montana District was the guest speaker at the annual Key Club Parents' Appreciation Banquet. After a basket dinner, new members were initiated into the local Key Club. Special Assemblies Student Council-sponsored activities this year in- cluded special assemblies presented to the students by Alan Davis, the Sun Players, and Spaceball Stars Alan Davis, of San Francisco, California, presented a musical program of vockl and instrumental numbers, followed by a heart-to- heart chat with the teenagers. The Sun Players, from Northwestern Missouri, showed the students how to apply stage make-up. After applying make-up and slipping into costumes, they then per- formed short skits of humor, music, and drama. Below are scenes showing several aspects of their act. Snowball Just before Christmas, the Student Council sponsored a Snow Ball. At the center of activities was the above Frosty, the Snow Man, which set in a snowy forest scene. Gaily decorated Christmas trees and other snow men props completed the decor for the formal dance. Queen of the Court A fitting tribute to St. Valentine’s Day was the Queen of the Court dance. At ceremonies following the Troy-Highland basketball game, Marian Kostman, center, was crowned queen by Eddie Smith. Attendants were Linda Gaul, right, and Linda Lewis, left. Their escorts were Tom Smith and Roger Clary. After the coronation, a dance, sponsored by the T-Club, was held in the gymnasium. Decorations continued the Valentine theme. 37 K a y e t t e s Shifts of Kayettes spent part of their school day working on their safety project on the streets of Troy. After washing car windows, the girls would leave notes telling about their forthcoming old hose drive. The Kayettes found that most of the windows were extremely dirty, and the girls even had to scrape ice off several windows. i T r u m P e FRONT ROW: Martha Zimmerman, Suzy Shute, Carol Burbridge, Editor, Larry Harness, Ellen Reeder.
