CLASS COLORS: Blue and Silver CLASS FLOWER: Red Carnation CLASS MOTTO: Wise is the man who says he knows nothing. Class History We have been traveling on a vast journey these past few years and now we have arrived at our destination. There were thirty-five passengers who boarded the ship of secondary education in the autumn of 1958. The ship's Captain for the first year of our journey was Harold Dillenback and the navigators were Mr. Clark and Mr. Larson. Freshman Land was full of exciting adventures, one after another. Our freshman party was a gala event with April in Paris as the theme. In the athletic field, Tom Twombly set a new one-haIf mile freshman track record. Our next stop was at Sophomore Land. At this point of the journey, Rose Ann Grigsby and Ronald Ettinger boarded the ship. However, three passengers disembarked at this time. The ship's navigators for the second leg of the long journey were Mr. Clark and Mrs. Goss. Marilee Foster replaced Harold Dillenback as ship Captain. This year Marilee Foster reigned as a Homecoming Princess and Edda Kay Juhl reigned as F.F. A. Sweetheart Attendant. We had a gay time at our highly successful Sock-Hop, but oh how difficult it was to get those dirty socks cleaned afterwards! We arrived at Junior Land in the autumn of 1960. The days we spent here were fun-filled and we were always busy. We produced our first school play as juniors, a comedy titled Our Hearts Were Young and Gay. Our Junior-Senior Prom was held in the Empire Room at the Hotel Robidoux in St. Joseph, Missouri, and was truly a Wonderland by Night. The junior year, our navigators were Mr. Elliott and Mr. Hundley with Theodore Gronnlger taking over as Captain. Linda Firkins was our lovely Homecoming Queen and Marilee Foster was one of the attractive princesses. Sharon Brenner was F.F. A. Sweetheart and Judy Edgerton and Karen Brenner were her attendants. Sharon was also a Valentine Sweetheart attendant on this third year of our voyage. Our football team was undefeated and unscored upon in 1960. The track team was also very successful this year. They were Troy Invitational, K-36 League, County, Hia- watha Relays, and Regional Meet Champs. The boys also received first in the Medley Relay at the Perry Invitational Meet. We gained two passengers this year, Donna Pi- per and Tom Moore, and lost one. We concluded our junior year by accompanying the class of '61 into the auditorium the night of graduation. At last we arrived at Senior Land, the final stop on our voyage. Our navigators were Mr. Hundley and Mr. Ginter with Robert Clark as the ship's Captain. Our Home- coming Queen was Sharon Brenner and one of the princesses was Marilee Foster. The 1961 football team was undefeated and the basketball team was the County Champ. The Senior Play was a comedy entitled, No More Homework. Our senior year was a success in every way. Now, we are anchoring this ship, but each one of us is going to set sail on the greatest and, perhaps, most rewarding voyage of all--the journey down the sea of life. This time we will be our own navigators and we hope this voyage will be as happy and successful as these past four years at Troy High have been. For what greater challenge could we ask? JUNIORS m D.
