However, it is not intended to provide the specialized depth of training needed to learn a trade. The courses offered at Troy High School are machine shop, woodworking, foundry, welding, electricity, mechanical drawing, graphic arts, power mechanics, and shop mathematics. Through these courses we attempt to help the students: develop good work habits and attitudes that will be help- ful in iobs of a routine or repetitive nature, use the tools, materials, and processes of industry, develop an understanding of the importance of industry and labor in our American way of life, develop skills to qualify for initial employment, develop an understanding and appreciation of the work of others, gain a knowledge of the changes made in materials to meet the needs of society, concentrate their development of knowledge and skills in selected areas of work, and develop proper attitudes toward the application of safety practices.

Ed., Bowling Green State University Curtis Jensen In a small world a knowledge of a foreign language plays an important part in our day-to-day existance. Troy High does its best with the three languages offered: French, Spanish, and Latin. Four years of French are offered, utilizing the audio- lingual system of teaching French. The students see films, listen to records, translate stories, and con- verse in French in the classroom. Spanish is also a four-year program, using the audio-lingual method. The students use generally the same type of equip- ment as the French students. Latin students learn the basic fundamentals of this ancient yet valuable language and its relation to other languages of today. The first year is spent in gaining practices and adaptibility in the use of Latin. The second year is primarily concerned with the writings of Caesar on his marches. The third year is involved with Cicero's arguments and philosophical works. 15
