. . ' bm? ARTS AND INDUSTRIES BUILDING The photographs on the opposite page are the exterior views of Troy High School's new Arts and Industries Addition to be erected during the summer. - The Arts and Industries Building will house modern equipment to give Troy youth instruc- tion in a variety of different technical skills. The designers have tried to reproduce within this building some of the industrial activities carried on in the Troy area. It is the hope that each student upon entering the high school can take a tryoutfcourse which will consist of a samp- ling of the various types of training offered. This tryout course will enable 'the student to dis- cover his own aptitudes and interests. The sooner a student can decide what he wants tc make his life's work, the sooner he can start to prepare himself for that work. After a student completes the tryout course and has discovered his own interests and aptitudes, he can more wisely choose his other high school and college subjects to help him achieve his chosen work. The new building will be of modern design throughout. The south half of the first floor will house a modern Metal Industries Laboratory consisting of areas of instruction in machine shop, sheetmetal, foundry, and spot, oxy-acetylene, and electric arc welding, as well as stor- age rooms, tool room, combination library and planning center, and class demonstration and lecture room. The north half of the first floor will house the Wood Industries Laboratory and the Trans- portation Laboratory as well as necessary finishing and storage room. The south half of the second floor will house a modern Drafting Room, a Photography Dark Room. and a modem Communication Laboratory for electrical and radio instruction. The north halt of the top floor will house a modern Aircraft Mechanics Laboratory where a student can learn all phases of ground work pertaining to aviation. The students of Troy High School express their thanks to the voters of the school district for making this new Arts and Industries Building possible and look forward to the time when they can make use of its facilities.
