Eight 'cfroshi' went to Miami to participate in the Scholarship Tests while several students won honors in the American Legion Essay Contest. V As sophomores, we joined many extra-curricular activities such as the Belle of Bagdaclf Girl Reserve, Hi-Y, and also placed high in the Scholarship Tests and in the American Legion Essay Contest. With James Carpenter, Peg Davis, Charles Kerr, and Richard Neal as our junior officers, we had a very successful and enjoyable year. The National Honor Society gave memberships to Ruth Nordquist, Lois DeWeese, Lucy Carolyn Rodgers, Charles Kerr, John Bushong, and Carl Duffy. The class took part in the Van Cleve Vanities, the i'Pirates of Penzance, presented a hilarious version of the Shooting of Dan McGrew', in Junior Chapel, and gave the seniors a memorable Farewell Chapel. In our last glorious year, we were busy with the American Revuen headed by Ted Weeks, the operetta, 6'The Chimes of Normandyv in which five seniors sang the leading parts, the publishing of the fifteenth volume of the nTrojang senior meetings including seniors from all three home rooms, and the selection of our motto and colors. Two seniors, Peg Davis and Alice Kennard, received membership in the National Honor Society. The college committee was very active this year. The 121 seniors chose as their class motto He conquers who conquers himself and as class colors, navy blue and gold. The social events of the year were the senior dinner, the class play June Mad by Ryerson and Clements, and the Junior-Senior Prom. The juniors gave the Farewell Chapel. The Baccalaureate services by Reverend John Weaver, and the Commencement Exercises with Reverend Edgar DeWitt Jones as the speaker closed our senior year.
