MANY HONORED AT AWARDS NIGHT Academic and miscellaneous awards went to: Kelly Boles-Home Economics; Roxanne Bohman-Girls League; Rod Hackwith-Boys P.E.; Colleen Swanson-Girls P.E.; Scott Hokanson-Weight Training; Dirk Hammond and Cindy Brunton-AII Star Basketball- Jim Schmit-Inspirational Football and Track; Duke Hammond- Inspirational Basketball; All boys and girls turning out for sports were introduced and letters presented to those earning them; Becky Sorbel and Karen Hanson-Journalism; Lynn Swanson- Chemistry; Lynn Soderstrom-Physics; Jeff Slack and Lynn Soderstrom-Math; Denny Gentry-Best English Student; Jeff Bingman-Speech; Tom Cox and Rick Parkins-Best Effort in English. Chorus Awards went to Kevin Rauch, Shane Nillson, Sandy Olson, Paul McGahan. Piano accompanists were Lori Smith and Lynn Soderstrom. Awards based on Bye Bye Birdie went to John Cox, Dennis Gentry, Sandy Olson, Robert Sanders. Songleaders and Cheerleaders received special gifts from Lorrie Stensland and the Basketball boys. Cindy Brunton was recognized as Troy Junior Miss and- Vicki Arnot as Miss THS. Honor cords were given to all Senior Honor Students. Shahab Najafi was awarded for his cooperation and progress in learning the English Language and American ways. FFA Awards were presented to: Andy Dunnam-Star Greenhand; Roxanne Bohman-Star Chapter Farmer; Jill Carlson won an award sponsored by the First Security Bank. New Student Body Officers were introduced as follows: Lynn Swanson-President; Rich Parkins-V. President; Jill Carlson-Secretary; Roxanne Bohman-Business Manager; Shelley McKie-Treasurer; Lisa Spencer-Asst. Treasurer. Troy ' s Vo-Ag teacher, John Davis, received surprise recognition at Awards Night. He was presented a special award from the Whitepine School District Board and Administration for his outstanding work the past year. Boys ' State: Jeff Bollman-Alternate, Doug Gludt-Representative, Brian Blum-Representative, Jake Smith-Alternate. Girls ' State: Danette Hammond-Representative, Shelley McKie-Alternate, Janic e Edgar-Alternate, Lynn Swanson-Representative. 54 R.D.
