BASEBALL The baseball team of 1954 hada disasterous season dropping every game. The future looks brighter this year though; because of the return of last year’s players who have much more experience, the lack of which was a major factor in their losing streak. Returning players who are Seniors this year are David Ogg, Butch Cischke, and James Morrow. Row 3: King, J. Truesdell, Mgr.; Mr. Hill. Row 2: M. Langford, G. Burnard, G. Choinski, F. Burnard. GOLF Troy High had a championship Golf team in 1954. The Varsity consisted of top-man Don Powell, George Catto, Bonne Char, Jim Hawley, and Dayton Shanahan. They won all their duel matches, were second in the regionals, and were 7th in the State. Don Powell, Captain, finished 7th in the Regionals. R. Gammon, Megr.; D. Tino, J. Northey, R. Kelly, C. Acton, G. Weldon, R. Cinader, K. R. Klusendorf, B. Tasker, R. Moore, J. Pouget, Row 1: T. Petterson, G. Willcock, G. Beach, J. Murdock, E. Tomko, H. Wright, J. Czarnowski. Troy High ‘‘ran off’’ with the league trophy last spring. Scoring in every event, Troy was never in danger during the afternoon—their nearest opponent, Roseville, was left twenty-five points behind in the scoring column. Jim Pouget set a new league and school record in the quarter mile by } covering the cinder path in fifty-four seconds flat. Other firsts were taken by Fred Burnard in the hundred yard dashand two-hundred-twenty yard dash; Max Langford in the broad jump; and the eight-hundred-eighty yard relay team. i} No first places were taken by underclassmen during the afternoon, but they did manage to cop many points. Troy has good ability returning this year in all events with the exception of the sprints. However, the team has good spirit and has a good chance of retaining its spot at the top of the league in spite of | its lack of short distance speedsters. e oe
