Hu 7.7 , Q-:Qi Q Ezwfzfd Through the school door pass the most vital cogs in the success of the school--the student. The truth in this state- ment is readily seen because the students are the ones who make the school what it is today. They are the ones who win the awards, ball- games, and diplomas. Actually we should remember that the students and school door go hand in hand to make a good school, '

SENIORS We started our high school years in 1952 when we entered the eighth grade as the class of '57. Mrs. MaddexandMrs. Bunn were our spon- sors and Edna Huffman was elected president. We didn't enter to many activities that year be- cause we were just getting used to the new way of going to school, the changing of classes, and having a different teacher every period. For our first May Day we chose Janice Potter and Sylvia Bowman to represent us. ln our freshman year, many boys and girls started entering different sports. We were a slightly smaller class, now numbering only 47, Mr. Moore and Mrs. Sutphin were our sponsors. We picked Yvonne Jennings, a newcomer, presi- dent ofthe class. Janice Potter and Yvonne Jen- nings represented us at the May Day festival, As our sophomore year rolled along we were more settled in high school and most of us be- longed to one or more clubs. Our total enroll- ment was 39. When we organized, we selected Barry Taylor president. One of our students, Janice Potter, was elected secretary-treasurer of the Student Government. Mr.Yates and Miss Ferguson were our sponsors. Six of our boys were on the football team. When we became juniors in 1955, our mem- bership had diminished. We were only 34 in number, but the spirit was still there. Cecil Dunbar was elected class president, and Barry Taylor, one of our students was elected vice- president of the Student Government, Mrs. Sif- ford was the sponsor that year. Our junior play, The GirlNext Door, after many interruptions, was a huge success. Nine of our students were tapped by the Beta Club. The highlight of our year was entertaining the seniors. After much planning and a lot of hard work, we arranged a picnic and day's outing at Lakeside. A good time was had by all. The year 1956 saw us enter school as sen- iors witha class of 2.5, We chose Dennis Howell as our president. David Osborne and Dennis Ho- well were chosen co-captains of the football team. Our sponsor is again Miss Ferguson, Jerry Henderson is editor of the yearbook and Barry Taylor is president of the Student Govern- ment. We,the class of '57, would like to give our thanks to all the teachers who have helped us through these last five years, and to say that without your kindness to us all it would never have been possible. FirstRow: Keith, Knotts, Long, Howell, Settles, Cook, Thompson. Second Row: Huffman, Hiner, Bowman, Brugh, Dunbar, Henderson, Potter, Lakes, Hylton, ThirdRow: Wood, Osborne, Snider, Simmons, Crumpacker, Lovell, West, Taylor.
