CLASS HISTORY, '36 From The various schools in The ciTy. we sTudenTs have come To TroTT for a purpose. Some of us came To play: some ouT of curiosiTy: oThers To obTain a definiTe vocaTion To guide Them in The fuTure.i LeT us recall The fond memories of our TirsT year in TroTT. Do you remember how we all looked for Room 34 and how we Tried To locaTe our assigned seaTs and home-room Teachers in our firsT assembly? T-low wiTh eager. smiling faces and dressed in our Sunda besT, we all wenT To The firsf school dance? Remember how we ouT-cheered The Seniors aT The fooTball, games? Then we were promoTed. We were Seniors! AT The beginning of The second year we fulfilled our duTy To elecT The new officers for The STudenT Council. The work of These ofhcers in our school acTiviTies. boTh scholasTic and aThleTic, will remain as a model for The fuTure officers of The STudenT Council. Suddenly sorrow sTruck deep amid The io and laughferg we losT one of our finesT friends. our principal. Mr. Harmon L. Gregory, who died! November 2. l935. Mr. Gregory so puT his energy. enfhusiasm, and hearT inTo This insTiTuTion, ThaT every room. every hall has memories of him. These inspired us To carry on gallanTly wiTh The greaf work upon which he had launched us. under The com- peTenT direcTion of his friend and ours, Mr. Sharp, who so undersfandingly guided us during Mr. Gregory's illness. Then while The shop sTudenTs lamenTed The loss of Their insTrucTor in ChemisTry. The STudenT Body rejoiced in Their acquisiTion of Mr. Bacon as vice-principal. Our foofball season o ened under The splendid leadership of Coach Cripe. On SepTember 27. The opening game was pljayed aT Dunkirk underneaTh The arTificial lighTs. ln spiTe of The facT ThaT we losT The TirsT game. TroTT's spiriT was undaunfed, for our vicfories were double our losses, The ToTal regisTering 6 and 3. ' This fighTing spiriT and sporfsmanship carried over inTo The baskeTball season wiTh ll vicTories. The memory of which filled our hearTs wiTh pride despiTe The facT ThaT Mr. Sharp losT The high silk haT. The gay social season began wiTh greaT enThusiasm under The capable guidance of The Social Com- miTTee. We all enjoyed The AuTumn, ChrisTmas. and Spring Proms which were held in The evenings, and our afTernoon dances shared equal success. On January lb. The TroTT Music DeparTmenT presenTed a MinsTrel Show which was one of The year's main acTiviTies. IT was a presenTaTion of negro songs and dialogue. Besides being a splendid per- formance. iT proved also To be a financial success. Days flew by and before we realized iT. we were asTonished To find ThaT The Time had come To make plans for our graduaTion. Mr. Small was elecTed as our faculTy advisor. and George Brinda PresidenT Jack Meierer Vice-PresidenT Fred Moore Secrefary Clara WhiTe Treasurer Took up Their respecfive offices. Our sad ThoughTs of deparTure were cheered somewhaT by elaboraTe plans or our Senior parTy and dance of May l5. And so-Teachers, classmaTes. and acTiviTies have all now become Treasured memories of Alma MaTer and we courageously seT forTh To fill The fields of life, secure in The knowledge . . . l OuT in The highways, wherever we go. Seed we musT gaTher and seed we musT sow: Even The TiniesT seed has a power, Be iT a ThisTle. or be iT a flower. ThaT which we gaTher is ThaT which we sow Seed-Time and harvesT alTernaTely flow: When we have finished wiTh Time 'Twill be known l-low we have gaThered. and how we have sown!
