IVIEIER COMIVIANDING GFFICER 12 DEC 91 - 50 JUL 92 Commander Meier, a native of Baltimore, Maryland, graduated from the Uni- versity of the South with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and was com- missioned through Officer Candidate School in 1972. His sea tours include assignment as Detachment Officer for Assault Craft Unit ONE while serving in the Western Pacific with Commander Amphibious Squadron FIVE, Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer onboard USS DOWNES QFF- 10701, Chief Engineer onboard USS VALDEZ QFF-10961, Executive Officer, USS SAMPLE QFF-10481, Chief Staff Officer, Commander Destroyer Squadron THIRTY-THREE, Commanding Officer, USS VALDEZ QFF-10963, and Command- ing Officer, USS TRIPPE QFF-10757. Significant shore tours include attendance at the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California, where he earned a Masters of Systems Technology, Anti-Submarine Warfare, Instructor in the Combat Systems Department Head Program, Surface Warfare Officers School Command, and Warfare Analyst for J-8, Politico-Military Assessment Division, the Joint Staff. His awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Navy Achievement Medal.
