CCIVIIVIAN MASTER CHIEF Master Chief Jones enlisted in the Navy on 9 Nov. 1960 under the Polaris Field Launcher KPFLD program, in the torpedoman rating. He attended boot camp at Great Lakes IL., TM A school at Key West FL. Missile Launcher School Dam Neck VA. And basic Submarine School at Groton CT. He has served aboard the follow- ing commands, The USS Abraham Lincoln SSBN 602, USS Stonewall Jackson SSBH 654, instructor, at Ha- val Submarine Training Center, Gro- ton CT., USS Sam Houston SSBN 608, Plavsubtracenpac, Hawaii as instruc- tor, weapons officer and command senior chief, USS William H. Bates SSN 680 as Chief of the Boat CCOBJ, HSL55 NAS North IS. as CMC, VS58 NAS North is. as CMC. Master Chief Jones has made 16 polaris deterrent patrols, 5 west packs and 2 surge OPS. He qualified in sub- marines in 1962 and qualified for his surface warfare pin in 1987 aboard the USS Ranger CV61. He is married and lives in San Diego with his wife Linda and their three sons Ellis, Rob- ert Jr. and Hathon ld J Gif X11 , ' FTCM JONES . li

EXECUTIVE OFFICER Captain Duckworth was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was ap- pointed to the U.S. Naval Academy in 1965 and graduated in 1969. ln March 1971, he was designated a Naval Avi- ator. Captain Duckworth's initial tour of duty was with Helicopter Attack fLightJ Squadron THREE QHAL-55 in the Repub- lic of Vietnam where he flew over 200 combat missions in the UH-113 gunship in support of U.S. Riverine Forces in the Mekong Delta. His next assignment was with Helicopter Training Squadron EIGH- TEEN QHT-183. ln addition to his duties as a flight instructor, he eamed his Mas- ter's Degree as a result of studies at the University of West Florida. ln 1974, Cap- tain Duckworth retumed to sea duty in San Diego, Califomia. During this tour he was assigned to USS TRIPOLI CLPH- 1Ol where he made a Westem Pacific deployment and eamed his Surface War- fare Officer designation. Captain Duck- worth joined Helicopter Mine Counter- measures Squadron TWELVE QHM-125 in 1977 where he sewed as Nuclear Weap- ons Officer and Assistant Officer in Charge of a detachment that deployed the Western Pacific. ln October 1978, Captain Duckworth became a plan- kommer in Helicopter Mine Counter- measures Squadron SIXTEEN QHM-167 where he initially served as Safety Ofli- cer. He deployed with the squadron in 1979-1980 to the Indian Ocean and served as Operations Officer during the lranian hostage crisis and rescue at- tempt. Captain Duckworth's next assign- ment was to the Naval Military Personnel Command QNMPCD in 1980 where he served as Placement Officer for all Navy helicopter squadrons and the aviation type commander staffs. Captain Duck- worth joined Helicopter Mine Counter- measures Squadron FOURTEEN QHM- 14J while deployed in the westem Pacif- ic, and assumed duties as Executive Of- ficer in June 1985 and command of the squadron in January 1985. During his command tour, HM-14 won the Battle HE and CNO Safety Award. He reported aboard USS TRIPOLI QLPH-105 in San U 4 X0 'l Wah, XENN. ui -i CAPT. E.L. DUCKWORTH Diego in December, 1986 where he served as Operations Officer for two years. Captain Duckworth re- turned to Norfolk, Virginia in Janu- ary 1989 and assumed command of Helicopter Mine Countermeas- ures Squadron Twelve CHM-125, the CH-55E and MH-55E Fleet Replace- ment Squadron CFRSJ. He reported to USS TRIPOLI ILPH 103 in De- cember 1990 as Executive Officer. Captain Duckworth has logged over 4100 flight hours in various fixed and rotary wing aircraft. For his accomplishments he has re- ceived the Meritorious Service Med- al C5 Awardsj, Air Medal with Nu- meral 5, Navy Commendation Med- al, plus othercampaign and service awards. f Captain Duckworth resides in Coronado, California with his wife the former Kathy Welton of Lincoln, Nebraska. They are the parents of a daughter, Rim and son, Eddie, Jr.
