The 1960-61 Homecoming festivities were started with a pep rally on Thursday, October 6. Doug Bell, President of the Student Council, proclaimed Phyllis Kappmeyer homecoming queen. Her attendants were Naomi Thalacker, juniorg Mary Block, sophomore, and Margene Schuldt, freshman. Judy Kirchoff and Spencer Helms were junior attendants. On Friday afternoon, October 7, the day of Homecoming, the marching band led a parade with the queen, her attendants, and floats built by the classes. The winning float, which had the motto, nLet's Dunk Dunkerton,u was submitted by the junior class. . A highlight of the celebration was the thrilling victory over Dunkerton. The mighty Tripoli nPanthers' defeated the Raiders by a score of 26-6. Phyllis was crowned by Fred Hildebrandt at the Homecoming dance which followed the game. Although the crown was at first placed on the queen upside down, it did not fade her smile. The dance, attended by many students, alumni and faculty members, was the conclusion to a memorable and enjoyable Homecoming at Tripoli High School.
