After only two months of service she has been made commanding officer of fifty women. She is training them at Long Beach, California. Her girls are ready for action thanksw to Miss Koch. The great talented night club singer and beautiful Wilma Lau was presented with the Golden Statue of WPorky Pign and 32A,000 after she won the Tri Nations Hog calling contest. It was held on their farm near Paris, France. When asked what she would do with the money she replied she would keep it to raise more little hog callers and more future sailors. Joan Mohling, a famed elaborate dress designer, has just returned from one of her many visits to the Paris Fashion Show. This visit was made for the special purpose of designing a formal for Miss Truman for her date with John Payne. Flash from Iowa! Beverly Mueller, a WAC for two years and stationed at Pu Sung, travele six miles to the front, taking the cross country route, over fences and through rice fields carrying a pack of supplies to save the life of General Ridgway, who was hit by an exploding mortar missel. Miss Mueller stated she will enlist again after her term expires next month. After two years of being a WAC, serving overseas and helping wounded soldiers Evelyn Pavelec has returned home for a short visit with her family and friends, but plans to re- enlist for another two years, after which she has no definite plans. Charles Pinch, fabulous fullback from Tripoli, scored his twenieth touchdown for the Los Angeles Rams. His key to success, marry the owners daughter! Mary Ann Pipho, formerly of Tripoli, has been appointed head matron at the Luthern Childrens Home in Waverly. She was asked by reporters if she ever intended to marry and have children of her own. Her reply was, WYes, if the right one comes along.n Laraine Rettig, a former Tripoli girl has just graduated from eight years of studying to be a professional pop corn popper. Who is that star that made such a hit in Hollywood the last few weeks? She is none other than Velma Schultz from right here in Tripoli. She recently teamed up with Gary Crosby and they're sensational. They are slated to appear in the Town Hall next week. Don't miss them! William Seelhammer former Tripoli High School graduate is now head coach at the University of Iowa. He says prospects look pretty good this year. As we rode along in Texas we saw a huge ranch. Who lives there was the question every- body asked. We went in to see and none other than the former Carole Sievers, now married and her husband sitting on the patio of their cozy little twelve room house. The great surgical nurse Delores Severe has just completed the most difficult operation in history, amputating the presidents little toe. She lives with her husband on a 50,000 acre ranch where they are among various other things raising little nurses. George Wilkens, former student of Tripoli High School, stars in the new technicolor motion picture NRough Guy Meets the Wildcat.W On last reports Wilkens says WI can lick any- body in the house.H As we look into the scene at the Iowa State Fair we see Glenn wolfgram driving a new Jetmobile for Joeie Chitwood's Death Dodgers. Being retired himself Chitwood says Glenn is one of his best performers he claims he has rolled stock cars seven times in succession. Florene Zabel, a former 1953 Tripoli High School graduate, has become a registered nurse at WBony Skeletonu Hospital in Chicago.
