Those pupils were: Lowell Ambrose Marlys Koch Paul Bremer A -1: 1, Carol Mason Patricia Chapin HQ5,j3 Beverly Mueller Eharon Duecker W' Jean Sauerbrie loyd Goodenbour gy Leo Waterman Barbara Hesse Wayne Weihe During Grade school days, time passed quickly and soon they found themselves ready to start their high school days. A total of forty students started their Freshman year at Tripoli High. What a year it turned out to be! The first of the eventful days was Freshman initiation. The boys were in their fathers overalls, the girls wore their short skirts, and their hair beautifully styled in upsweeps. Smitty really shinned his share of shoes that day. They'll never forget the big Christmas dinner they had in the English room. The food was delicious! Everyone will remember the misteltoe in the doorway and all the excitement it caused. On the last day of school they all went to Waterloo for their class picnic. The class y or that year was Mrs. Lease. iI their Sophomore year they SPOUSOPSG the big school party. That year too, Lloyd received his bouquet of red roses in Biology Class. Miss Macy, the class sponspr, and the class went to Devils Backbone State Park for the picnic. The warning, Uno swimming was soon forgotten. They began their Junior year by ordering their class rings. Work was soon begun on the class play, 'Doctors Orders.' The date was set and then on that morning of November 9th their class rings arrived. If anyone, that night of the play, wondered why they were looking at their hands a lot it was just because they thought the rings were so Pretty. Work was soon begun on their prom, which was held in the Town Hall on May 2nd, with the theme being 'Holland Holiday.' Music was provided by Vance Dixon's Orchestra. They surely will all remember the arguements that took place when they were planning the prom. , Mrs. Steve Palmer and the class went to Cedar Fall: for their Class picnic. They'll remember the cold water when the boys wiht swimming. Brrrr! Now after all this they are Seniorsll What a privilege it was to initiate the Freshmen! On October the 28th the class went to Waterloo to have graduation pictures taken at Hollett's. Mr. Casey, their class sponsor, went with them. The Senior class play was given, and the class went on their skip day. Then came the last events of their high school days, Junior-Senior Banquet, Bagcalaureate, and Commencement. After They graduate, they will go their own ways and carry out their own plans, but they'll never forget the good days they had together at Tripoli High. , . ag 5' Q1 I This page is sponsored by: Interstate Power Co., Bergmann Hatchery., N. In the daytime the boys were attired in skirts and blouses baby bonnets decorated with jewelry, and carried shoe kits. The girls were dressed in their fatherfs overalls and shirts, their hair were in millions of pigtails, no makeup, and bedroom slippers. Wednesday nite they arrived at the schoolhouse at 7:30 only to find themselves in for a night of wierd experiences. First they walded through hot coals, felt fur of a skunk, shook hands with a dead man, ate worms and drank blood. Later they had a race to see who could push a peanut across the gym floor quickest. This was done with their noses of course. They were rewarded with cookies filled with garlic. Then there was a mad scramble while the poor freshmen looked through the whole pile of shoes trying to find their own. The Seniors, Juniors, and Sophomores enjoyed the whole affair, but t Freshmen didn't think much of it. he Lise . . avg: gr e- 324 NSG .4 fi -12 .A iilumetuming 'v .fi wb k ' . ,- ,.v v-A M . an ....-.1 tn: x . f . v - f 1 Homecoming thisfyear was again opened with the annual snake-dance beginning with the pep meeting and bon fire at the school house and ending with a movie down town. The band again led the parade followed by the Queen's car and the many floats. The Juniors were very proud of their prize winning float, UWe can't wait to tell them we won.W The seventh grade received second prize with their 'Tripoli Weds Victory,W and the Seniors took third with WTripoli Takes the Cake.W Velma Schultz reigned over the evening with the able assistance of her attendents, Lois Blasberg, Cheryl Colburn, Betty Kalkbrenner and the junior attendents, Laura Hermmence and Benny Kehe. To make this homecoming an even greater success, Tripoli won the football game against Hawkeye, 33 to 19. After the game everyone attended a homecoming alumni dance in the gym where they waltzed to the flowing rhythm of the Jack Howard Orchestra. Thus came to a close the very memorable Homecoming of l952. E ewxmmicfsgcmicf Drum A . 'L On May 2nd, 1952, in the Tripoli Town Hall the elaborate Junior-Senior Prom was held. The theme of the prom was WHolland Holiday.W We had a delicious meal which was brought to a close by orange sherbert and waffers. The hall was beautifully decorated with blue, yellow, and white streamers. On one wall was a miniature Dutch boy and girl made of paper standing beside a windmill. The highlight of the evening was the dance music furnished by the Vance Orchestra. In the center of the dance floor there was a Dutch windmill. All in all it was a very successful evening that everyone will remember time. 9 Z 4 Dixon for a long 'Qu ill k 3 I x V if yr. ,, k, ' 'E f J V-1 V, Q f, ,f - ,rx pw .
