SENIQR CLASS HISTORY In August 1958 eighteen freshmen presented themselves for inspection by the other high school students. Our first year's excitement really began with our initiation by the sophomores. That evening was highlighted by rolling peanuts with our noses, sitting on balloons, and dancing. After initiation we gave a sophomore return dance and then settled down to study. August 1959--Now it was our chance to initiate the freshmen. We had lots of fun making this class imperson- ate Mother Goose characters. Hearing the seniors talk about their prospective trip-to Washington D. C. set us off on a money-raising campaign. August 1960--We were juniors! The first thing we did was to entertain the public with our play, nIt's a G Great Lifeu. We all had a wonderful time putting it on and making the people laugh. Then the biggest event of our junior year, the prom, came. After much discussion we decided on the theme nwenderland by Night.' The walls were decorated with silhouettes of dancers outlined by colored lights. we created a park scene for the stage. The center of attrac- tion was a cornet player, silhouetted against the moonlit background. we were all happy with the success of our prom. The next Saturday we held the post prom. August 1961--Began our last year of high school. In October we presented the play nWild About Harry' to the public. Later in the fall all the boys went to the school forest and out about 30 cords of pulpwood with the help of their fathers. The girls made the meals. This helped our funds for our trip to Washington D. C. substantially. Finally that morning, April 30, 1962, arrived. We were on our way. When we arrived in Washington D. C. we had the opportunity to see many things such as: The Capitol, White House, Smithsonian Institute, Mount Vernon, Naval Academy, Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Library of Congress, Christ Church and many others. Fin- ishing our last night was a moonlight cruise up the Patomac River. We arrived home Friday, May h, very tired, but happy that in our four years of high school we had worked so well together and made this dream come true. Now thirteen seniors are nervously awaiting the final step--that of graduating into a new world of oppor- tunities and responsibilities.
