ts sq? - fs 1 ilirfrfiun n Q li 0 'i We, the Senior Class of 1957, dedicate our 'ECHO' in memory of our beloved friend and schoolmate, Roger Jokela. Roger Allen Jokela was born November 30, 1936, son of Eine A. and Florence Jokela. He attended the public school in Tripoli, graduating from the Tri-County High School with the Class of l95b. On June 12, 195k he enlisted in the U. S. Navy, and passed the necessary tests to become a member of the Naval Air Force. He advanced to the rating of Electronic Technician--3rd Class. Roger was aboard the ill-fated Liftmaster C-118 when it sank in the Atlantic, October ll, 1956. i Sir Walter Scott once wrote, 'One Hour of Life, crowded to the full with glorious action, and filled with noble risks is worth years of those mean observances of paltry decorum, in which men steal through existence, like sluggish waters through a marsh without either honour or observation.' Roger loved his work in the Naval Air Force. His last let- ter home bore a postscript in which he said he had been suddenly called out to go somewhere. He ended by saying, 'I'll tell you where I went, when I getback.n There was no complaint because his eveningfs plans were changed--he was only thrilled because he WHS being given BD0ther opportunity for adventure. It was of men like Roger that Scott wrote, for in his short twenty years, Roger lived his 'One Hour of Life.'
