ATHLETIC Volleyball probably reigns as king of Tripolitan sports, bringing into play nearly every division on the ship as inter-divisional tournaments are held on the forward elevator. With the hangar deck free from planes and fresh paint, however, basketball usually draws the crowds. Enough interest was fostered in the 952-'53 season to field a better than average basketball team against experienced competition. Boxing and weight lifting have a consistant following for the physical culturists. Of course no TRIPOLI sports page would be complete with- out mentioning the Brindisi and Naples softball games which were the cause of many battered bodies.
