— Routes | The Student Run-Around Degree Plans—An undergraduate student should consult the advisor on questions concerning degree programs. A graduate student should consult the advisor regarding degree plans. Further information may be obtained from the Dean of Records and Admissions. Employment (off-campus)— Students seeking part-time or full-time jobs off campus should check with Office of Career Planning in Northrup Hall, Room 120. Faculty—Complaints about or compliments on individual faculty mem- bers should be referred to the Dean of the particular division in which that faculty member teaches. Faculty Advisors—See Advisor, Faculty Grades—Students needing grade point averages for calculating class rank, classification, or graduation with honors, etc. should consult the Registrar’s Office. Grievances—Several procedures exist for handling student grievances. For information about these procedures inquire at the Office for Stu- dent Affairs or at the Information Office at Coates Center. Incomplete—A grade of Incomplete or “I” indicates that the student has done work of passing grade in a course but has failed to do some portion of the required work because of an emergency. It is the stu- dent’s responsibility to make up the incomplete work and to have the “T” removed from the record before the end of the semester following the one in which he received the “I”. Otherwise, after one semester has elapsed and no change has been made by the instructor, the Reg- istrar is authorized to change an “I” to an “‘F’’. In computing grade point averages, an “‘I”’ is not averaged. I.D. Cards—Every Trinity student is required to have and to carry a Trinity University identification card. The card is made during registra- tion and is free at that time; a replacement card for a lost I.D. is ob- tainable at the Registrar’s Office at the cost of $10.00. Insurance—The University urges all students enrolled for 12 or more hours and all foreign students to carry health insurance. A student may purchase the group health policy provided through the University or some other policy equivalent to it. University insurance may be purchased at the beginning of each semester. International Student I.D. Cards—This internationally recognized I.D. card, issued at the Coates Center Information Office, provides stu- dents with many discounts when traveling abroad. Joint Statement on Student Rights and Responsibilities—Copies of this document are available at the Office for Student Affairs and the Infor- mation Office at Coates Center. Library Card—A library card may be obtained at the circulation desk at the Trinity University Library upon presentation of a validated I.D. card for the current semester. The replacement fee for a lost card is $2.00 for first loss, $5.00 thereafter. Locator, Student—Students can be located only in emergency situa- tions by the staff of the Coates University Center. Lost and Found—All found items and inquiries concerning lost items should be sent to the Office of the Coates University Center. Notaries Public Mary Forshage—Student Aid Office. Betty Tesche—Development Office Jan Steger—Student Affairs Office Off Campus Housing—Application for permission for undergraduate resident students to live off-campus may be obtained in the Residence Hall Office. Parking Tickets—All tickets should be paid promptly at the Security Office. To appeal a traffic ticket, see the Director of Security. Statement of Good Standing—This may be obtained in the Registrar’s Office. The statement is usually sent in lieu of a complete transcript for summer school attendance only. Transcript—To have an official transcript sent from Trinity University to another school, go to the Registrar’s Office. The first transcript is free; additional copies are $1.00 each. Transfer Credit—If a student plans to transfer work to Trinity Univer- sity from another school, the student should clear the courses to be transferred with the Registrar before enrolling elsewhere. Graduate students should consult the Graduate Bulletin and the Office of the Dean of the division in which they are majoring. Withdrawal From The University—Undergraduate students initiate withdrawal procedures in the Center for Personal and Educational De- velopment. 1]

Absences—Each instructor is required to notify students of the par- ticular absence policy at the beginning of the semester; instructors have the prerogative of dropping a student from a course for non-at- tendance. Students are responsible for contacting instructors to explain absences which result from illness, death in the family, unavoidable delays in transportation, etc. No absence is excused but serious ones should be explained. Accidents Injuries—Report any personal accident or injury to the University Health Services, ext. 8111. All accidents and injuries occur- ring on campus must be reported. Other accidents should be reported to the Security Office, ext. 7325. Activities, Student—Scheduled in administrative offices of the Coates University Center under the direction of Dr. Thurman Adkins, Assis- tant Dean of Students for Student Activities. Activity Cards, Student—Issued during registration. After that they will be issued at the Office of the Registrar. Adding and Dropping—Courses may be added or dropped on ‘‘Add and Drop Days’’ which are generaly set one week after classes begin. See the catalog for exact dates. Later adding or dropping of a class is only by special permission and must be done through the Dean of Records and Admissions. Address Change—Report Changes of address or corrections of basic data to the Registrar's Office and the Office for Student Affairs. These are ve ry important. Advisor, Faculty—Faculty advisors for undergraduate students are as- signed by the Vice President for Academic Affairs. When the student applies for a major, an advisor in the major field is assigned. Graduate students are assigned advisors by the chairman of their ma- jor department. Undergraduate students who wish to change advisors should contact the Dean of Records and Admissions. Alcohol Petition—The use of beer and wine by recognized university organizations is now permitted on campus in certain restricted areas. Said organizations must secure prior permission for the use of beer or wine by written petition using a form available at the Coates Universi- ty Center Information Desk. A-Z Referral An Attempt to Minimize Auto Registration—University parking permits are purchased at the Traffic and Security Office. All cars driven on University property must be properly registered at the Traffic and Security Office. Bus Cards—Trinity students may obtain a free card at the Coates Center Information Office which entitles them to ride VIA buses at a discount. Bus Service—Metropolitan Transit (VIA) bus service is available in front of the University Center on upper campus. Calendar—The University calendar is maintained in the Coates Uni- versity Center. Club and group activities and meetings should be scheduled on this calendar. Checks—Checks for amounts up to $50.00 may be cashed at the Student Bank in the Business Office. Identification by a Trinity Univer- sity I.D. card is required. Clubs—To obtain names of officers or sponsors of student organiza- tions, contact the office in the Coates University Center. Complaints— Academic problems should be referred to the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, financial problems to the Of- fice of the Vice President for Fiscal Affairs, and personal problems to the Student Affairs Office. Committees—Inquire at the Student Senate office for information on University and Student Senate Committees and how to get involved in these. Counseling, Academic—See your faculty advisor or check with the Dean of Records and Admissions. Counseling, Career—Go by the Office of Career Planning Services in Northrup Hall, Room 120. Counseling, Personal—Check with the Center for Personal and Educa- tional Development, Mayfield Cottage.
