Trinity Welcomes New President Dr. Duncan Wimpress Former Monmouth Chief Executive Brings New Style of Leadership to the University on the H111 ln a brief ceremony on August 3, l97O, Presi- dent-Emeritus James W. Laurie presented the 48- year-old new chief executive with the symbols of his office, the master keys of the University, the of- ficial seal, and a silver Centennial Medallion. Dr. Wimpress came to Trinity from Monmouth College, Illinois, where he was president for six years. A California native, Dr. Wimpress holds baccalaureate and master's degrees in iournalism and political science from the University of Ore- gon. He has a doctoral degree in political science from the University of Denver. The new chief executive, the first lay president of Trinity, is married to the former Jean Margaret Skerry, they have two daughters and a son.
