The summer months brought many hours of work in preparation for the coming fall. Ctwuncilvsponsored Orientation opened the fall semester. The week was filled with lectures, tours, dances, and dinners. Council members immediately shifted their efforts towards promotion for the sell-out New Christy Minstrel concert, After the concert, the Homecoming' 1964 schedule began and meetings, activities, and orientation led up to the big week in November. Trinity finally got its first big Homecoming, and The Spirit of 96 continued its success and was named as The Most outstanding Homecoming in the Southwest. December brought the new tradition of Student Government Open House. The office became a Winter Wonderland of elab- orate deeorations, complete with Tom Rogers' multi-million dollar trafin system. january brought Council members a few weeks time to do their semester's work, and those of us taking 19 hours certainly needed the break talthough we'd had one all semesterl. Follow- ing finals we lost our Treasurer. Bill Yanda, who left to get his masters degree in ROTC, and Sally Lanyon was appointed to join our ranks. This was undoubtedly one of our greatest achievements. We began devoting our time to promotion of Peter, Paul, and Mary. and tickets to the March 19 concert were sold out over ten days in advance. Negotiations were begun immediately to bring the nation's number one folk trio back to the Skyline Campus, and they returned the next week with tickets selling faster than for the first show. The Council also initiated and worked on other projects, held assemblies, elections, established student loan fund, sent students to numerous conferences and conventions, held seminars, made posters like they were going out of style, embarrassed Lilla who had a modesty made of whipped cream, paid for Tom Fry's parking tickets, watched ,lim Jones give Roger Cortez and the Senate bad times, etc. We had a tremendous time doing just what came naturally. We laughed . . . we cried . . . we cussed . , . we hated . . . and we loved every minute of it. We were indeed thankful for the opportunity we had to serve our fellow students and the community as well. We had a great year-six concerts, biggest Bemiuda Day ever, Homecoming, Peter, Paul and Fred appearing weekly, student loan fund, and on and on. Those of us on the oouncil leave with the satisfaction of seeing Student Covemment become a moving and dynamic force at Trinity.
