His interest in the university dated back to his matriculation in 1910 and continued through his graduation in 1914 until his death, November 11, 1955. His vision and his determination brought Trinity to its present Sky- line Campus. As co-chairman ot the building committee he was instrumental in the decision to develop Trinity Hill along modern, functional lines rather than a traditional design, bringing to Trin- ity national recognition. His high standards for Trinity can be summarized in his aphorism, There is no place for Trinity but the top.
