ruary' 8. 1893, the Trustees consumated the purchase of the tive lots adjoining the Parish House of St. Agnes Chapel in Nirrety'-first Street. The Chapel, torn down in 19-13. was described while it yy'as being built in 1891 as one of the most beautiful structures in the country', being built of granite trimmed with red sandstone, while the chime of its bells, it is said, will equal any' in the United States. On October 19, 1893 at a ceremony' mark:-.l by an address delivered by the Right Reverend H. C. Potter, the cornerstone of the School was laid. building. completely tire-proof and the picture of efficiency. was dedicated on l ebruary' 2, 1893. at a ceremony in which one of the addresses was delivered by' President Seth l.ow of Columbia lfniversity'. YVhen the tyrannical Reverend Ulmann re- tired in 1903 and the Reverend l.ayy'rence T. Cole took over, Trinity' settled into its existence on Ninety'-first Street. Under Cole the institution began its third histoi'ical period, which can be called the era of conservative expansion which included many' aspects of School life.
