The group of forty-nine students, parents, and sponsors thoroughly enjoyed the ten day visit exploring new cultures and customs. The trip started out with a two-night stay in Mainz, Germany, with the major activitiy having been a cruise down the castle laden Rhine River. Then it was on to Paris, the City of Light , after a short stop at the Reims Cathedral. ln Paris they saw sights including the Eiffel Tower. the Arch of Triumph, the Louvre, and Versailles. The next stop was Lucerne, Switzerland, which was considered by many to have been the most beautiful of the countries visited. The activity options in Lucerne were numerous. Eleven people opted to go skiing on the snow-capped Swiss Alps. Others went on a mountain cable lift reaching altitudes of 7,000 feet. The rest spent the entire day shopping for souvenirs, watches, or cuckoo clocks. The next morning offered the drive through the scenic route past the Swiss Rhine River Falls and the German Black Forest to Heidelberg. The trip ended there with an exhausted group departing from Frankfurt who were glad to be going home, but with an ex- perience of a lifetime that will never slip from their memories.
