Checking the blood pressure of Senior Citizens was only one of the many health related activities performed by the Health Occupation Students of America CHOSAJ. The twenty-six students had jobs that were in some way related to the field of health service. The instructor of the club was Mrs. Connie Smart. She taught the students the rules and procedures dealing with most health occupations. After third period, the students went to their respective jobs and gain- ed an even greater understanding of their chosen field of study. The club did not participate in fund raising events. but they did serve their community in a number of ways. Fund raising projects dominated the year for Home Economic Careers Education. The club, which consists of students in the class HERO, sold pocket and poster calen- dars. They also kept up with the current craze by selling Rubik's Cube keychains. The club co-sponsored the Sammy Vaughn concert with the other vocational clubs. HOSA and HECE were only two of the many vocational clubs at Trinity that were designed to give students educa- tional and on the job training. 1, u iffy ' w r ll ,vvl ,., is ,a- 's Trinity was fortunate to have classes to help one's career get started. One such class was D.E.C.A., or Distributive Education Clubs of America. This class was geared toward marketing and distribution. ln order to prepare students for the various competitions to be entered, they attended a leadership conference for youth in Glen Rose. To end the year, an Employer-Employee Banquet was held in honor of the Employers. This year the Future Homemakers of America had such a large and active group they were forced to be separated in- to four sub-divisions, each division being headed by a Home-Economics teacher. Though each division held in- dividual meetings, together they created many projects like visiting nursing homes and adopting Grandparents. The Future Business Leaders of America are an organiza- tion that promotes office skills for students with clerical aspirations. The FBLA was involved in several activities in addition to the school store they sponsored in order to help students obtain school supplies in times of need. They helped handicapped children by co-sponsoring a Halloween party for them and they attended a special convention dur- ing March.
