In recognition of leadership, scholarship, and involvement two very special honors, the DAR Scholastic Award and the Mid-Cities Optimist Award, are bestowed upon two deserv- ing seniors each year. The local DAR Chapter selected Margaret Lucas as the recipient for 1981-82. Margaret, a very dedicated student, expressed her involvement through the French Club, of which she had been a three year member. She also was a member of the National Honor Society and held the office of service chairman. Margaret's studious character and established devotion prompted the DAR Chapter to present her with this honor. The Mid-Cities Optimist Club focused on Shannon Henson as Trinity's Outstanding Senior for this year. Shannon, a very involved student, was a member of the Triune Staff and had served on the Executive Council for two years. She ex- hibited outstanding leadership qualities as she took on the position of head twirler for Trinity's Marching Band. As an ac- tive National Honor Society member she also served as treasurer. Both of these fine young ladies were chosen as a result of their abilities to excel academically, and equally important- ly, for their strong dedication and hard work which has earn- ed them the respect of many.
