Rodeo was one sport that took a strong body, a great deal of skill, coordination, and a knowledge of animals in which to compete. Thirteen students at Trinity possessed all of these elements. They were the members of the school rodeo team. The members competed in rodeos throughout the year. At each rodeo there were twelve events, each requiring a 512.50 entry fee. This was the reason area businesses spon- sored the team in such events as bull and bare back riding, team roping and barrel racing, among others. Team members practiced regularly in hopes of qualifying for the state championships. Two people from Trinity accomplished this goal. Doreen Zaremba and Gerald Maynard competed in the state meet, held at Bowie, on June tst. Gerald did especially well in the chute dogging competition, an event that usually takes about five seconds to complete. Playing a part in the team's success were the sponsors Mr. and Mrs. Bill Gasch and Mr. and Mrs. Don Bynum. lt was their responsibility to see that meetings were attended, members learned of the upcoming rodeos, entry fees were paid and the other duties were completed. They also devoted many long hours to organize the Trinity High Rodeo. The team members and sponsors, through hard work and devotion managed to complete a spectacular rodeo season.
