Two contributing factors were the talented girls and the new, enthusiastic coach, Susan Lumley. She helped push and encourage the girls to their highest potential. Many girls contributed greatly to the Trinity Track Team. Outstanding performers were: Ann Neal, Desty Hall, Rachel Brown, and Susan Carter. Other high scoring performers were: Angela McGilvray, Delores Palmore, Lisa Warbritton, Mary Hayes, Renee Weaver, Charlotte Sebastian, Stephanie Walter, and Christy West. Still, other athletes were: Angela Jeans, Gwen Bell, Shawna Marcum, Gina Cucci, Tonya Terrill, Donnie McRight, Lisa Dunham, Janie Perez, Mary Hart, Doris Reed, and Mary Kruzel. With the combined efforts of Coach Lumley and the athletes, the track team completed a successful year. The hours of training and dedication were important ingredients which assisted in creating a winning season. The returning girls will provide next year's team with a strong foundation to build another winning team. Opposite page left: Mary Hart is a promising, returning shot-puter. in 'f , I ftp-Q , jk.. A . - -P' v at 4 -rn. 1.4 me-.Q M.. 7- Cross country running is a much overlooked sport. lt is also one which requires a great amount of stamina and mental preparation because of the long distances that must be covered. This year, the boy's team, coached by Bill Shatford, was one which had several superb members, noticeably Willie Henderson, who qualified for regionals, Lorenzo Berenguer, Steve Palmore, Jeff Hileman, and sophomore Russell Stedman, who placed 22nd in the district meet. During the off-season, the team lifted weights. Also, they ran every day of the season, which consisted of September and October, to keep in shape. This year, both the Junior Varsity and the Varsity cross country teams had outstanding performances in several meets. Their efforts were visible in the district meet, with both teams placing second, and in the Ft. Worth Country Day Invitational Meet in which the Varsity were runners-up. All in all, Coach Shatford and the rest of the students looked toward the '82 season with much optimism because of the considerable number of superior runners who are returning to make next year's squad repeat and even excel last year's quality season.
