' ' s. , The Trojan golf season in 1962 was something of a disap- pointment following three consecutive district golf cham- pionships. lnexperience was the primary cause of the team's inconsistency. However, with Lance Wingfield and Kirk Starry providing the senior leadership the team made marked improvement by the year's end. Despite this im- provement the district title was lost. During the year, an event occurred which, although good for Bedford and Euless populous as a whole, created mild havoc for the linksters. Ex-Dallas mayor Robert Folsom made the Sotogrande Country Club complex, including the nine- hole golf course, available to the city of Bedford. The city was unable to decline the excellent offer and made the purchase. The problem arose when the city decided to close the golf course portion of the complex rather than make it a municipal course. Thus the Trojans lost their most accessible course.
