'D 4, er , Q A t ,' 1 .4 P 0 -0 , . yt,, ., The Trojans were declared winners over Grand Prairie in a 6-6 tie on an umpire's ruling. They then completed their streak with wins over Irving 2-1 and South Grand Prairie 4-1. Trinity next faced their arch-rival Dunconville. They were again beaten by the Panthers 8-4. ln defeating Nimitz 2-O the contenders kept up the Trojan spirit while still being in position for the title. Unfortunately, after being defeated by MacArthur 1-O they were no longer in contention for the ti- tle. They closed the season with a defeat of Bell 7-3. Although they didn't advance to the playoffs, Trinity carried an outstanding 10-4 record through district play. Through clutch hitting and speed, Kip Gowland led the team in batting with an impressive .415 average and in stolen bases with 14. Scott Bowen proved to be the team's power man with 15 PtBl's. ln the pitching department Steve Bohannon accomplished a 7-2 record and was named to the All-District team while Michael Patak maintained a 1.60 a 1 ERA. buh-4 Opposlte page above left: Trojans look from the dugout. During a 90 minute game, the average soccer player ran about 7 miles. Soccer, the world's ft team sport, is on the slow rise in America and at THS. This trend continued in 1982. To be good in soccer, practice was essential. During the first semester, the soccer team did nothing but practice for district competition in February. The varsity soccer team had seven district games and four non-district games. The team won one, lost nine, and tied one. They beat Grand Prairie 4 to O. The team also tied against Bell. Even though it was Tim Stout's first time to coach soccer, he did fairly well. The soccer team was made up of many highly skilled in- dividuals. Monty Marlin scored 3 goals during the season. Kenny Migchelbrink scored twice while on varsity and once while on junior varsity. Don Gilliland, Alfred Browning, and Steve Moss each scored two goals. John Gilliland, and Albert Esmailzadeh both scored once. Albert Esmailzadeh had 13 attempts while Don Gilliland had 12. John Gilliland and Kenny Migchelbrink each had 9 attempts. Although 1962 was not a successful season, the varsity soccer team is looking forward to increased success next year. Opposite page above left: Mike Baird tries to score.
