Even though the girls did not gain the district title, they still compiled their best season record ever under Coach Jim Wells with 14 wins and 18 losses. This team competed in several tournaments in addition to their regular season games. They captured 2nd place in the DeSoto Tournament and 4th in both the Birdville and H.E.B. Tournaments. The Trojans had every right to be proud of the girls' hustle and determination as three players were elected to All- Area honors. Among those was Julie Embry, a sophomore whose baskets were worth 270 points for the year. Other Trojans on the elite team were Kim Stondridge and Terri George. The girls' Basketball team was led in district points by Angela Jeans, a sophomore promoted from the J.V., who sunk 111 points. The 1981-82 Varsity Girls' Basketball team's unity prevailed as they exhibited a competitive and spirited at- mosphere at every game. Opposite page above left: Angela Jeans looks to the lane. -1 145' ?' . M s,.. npr' 7' Ss The Trinity girl's varsity basketball team can look forward to several aggressive prospects for the '82-'83 year, judging from the J.V.-team this past year. Coached by Mrs. Diane lnnis and Mrs. Susan Lumley, the girls participated in three tournaments. They won first place in the DeSoto tourney, second in the Den- ton tourney, and first in the H.E.B. tourney. They tied with Nimitz for district with an impressive season record of 28-4. One highlight of the season was their sixth district game against MacArthur in which Trinity fouled out all but three of their players: Sandra Riggs, Barbara Smith, and Mary Hart. Yet, Trinity came from behind in the last quarter to win the game 35-04. Another memorable feat was the J.V.'s 48-45 victory over Duncanville. Rachel Brown and Sandra Riggs combined for 27 points as Trinity emerged victorious, which marked the first time a Trinity girls team had beaten Duncanville in basketball. The high scorers for the season were Barbara Smith, with a total of 128 points and Cindy Boaz, with a total of 108 points. The other three starters included Sandra Riggs, Rebekah Rousch, and Rachel Brown. Opposite page left: Cindy Boaz C203 goes up for two points.
