The Trojan Cagers started off the second half of district play on a good note with victories over Nimitz and lrving behind the scoring of Willie Henderson. The Trojans then went on to meet Duncanville in the closest game of the season. Although Trinity played an excellent game, they were unable to overcome the pressure of a triple-overtime, and lost the game 56-45. Following this crucial loss, Trinity could not recapture their competitive spirit as they dropped their next three games to Grand Prairie, South Grand Prairie, and MacArthur. The Trojans closed out the season with a heartbreaking loss to L.D. Bell. The Varsity Cagers, under the instruction of Coach Paul lngle, concluded the year with a 7- 7 district record and an excellent season record of 22-12. There were also several individual successes among the team. Both Rick Ford and Paul Rice were chosen to the Se- cond Team All-District, while Willie Henderson and Walt Zartman received Honorable Mention for district play. Trinity's Varsity Basketball Team kept in tradition with past Trojan teams by acquiring outstanding records and by demonstrating sportsmanship and competitive play throughout the season. Even though the girls did not gain the district title, they still compiled their best season record ever under Coach Jim Wells with 14 wins and 18 losses. This team competed in several tournaments in addition to their regular season games. They captured 2nd place in the DeSoto Tournament and 4th in both the Birdville and H.E.B. Tournaments. The Trojans had every right to be proud of the girls' hustle and determination as three players were elected to All- Area honors. Among those was Julie Embry, a sophomore whose baskets were worth 270 points for the year. Other Trojans on the elite team were Kim Stondridge and Terri George. The girls' Basketball team was led in district points by Angela Jeans, a sophomore promoted from the J.V., who sunk 111 points. The 1981-82 Varsity Girls' Basketball team's unity prevailed as they exhibited a competitive and spirited at- mosphere at every game. Opposite page above left: Angela Jeans looks to the lane.
