1- f-,A -W 13317 A Y. Q . w' The Trinity varsity basketball team had a most impressive season this year. ln pre-district the cagers ran their record to 9-O before falling to R.L. Turner. Prior to this loss, the Trojans had narrowly defeated Southwest 44-43 to win the Birdville Tournament. During late December the Trojansjourneyed to Fort Worth to participate on the annual Westside Lions Club Tournament. The Trojans faired well in this prestigious tour- nament as they returned with a fifth place trophy. After an impressive pre-district, the varsity squad opened District 5A- 9 play with their best offensive game of the season as they defeated Nimitz by an almost inconceivable score of 101-71. After this decisive victory, the Trojans went on to drop their next two games to Duncanville and Irving. Trinity then bounced back with a victory over Grand Prairie behind the scoring of Paul Rice. Although four out of the five starters hit double figures in the Trojon's next game, Trinity was unable to pull out another close one and fell to South Grand Prairie. The Trojan cagers, however, finished out the first half of district as they soundly defeated MacArthur and their cross- town rival L.D. Bell.
