One of the main reasons for the loss was 6'10 Ricky Ashley, who scored 26 points for Mineral Wellsg Trinity trailed at the end of the first half 24-18, but guard Rusty Beam was able to hit his first four shots during the third quarter to get the Trojans back in the game. Then, during the fourth quarter, both Kevin Lee and Beam were able to tie the score. The Trojans lost by ten points. Wichita Falls 68, Trinity 57 The Trojans took an early lead in the Wichita Falls game only to see it slip away during the second period of play. At the end of the first period, Trinity was leading by four points but by the end of the half the Coyotes had the lead 30-27. During the third quarter, Trinity fell ten points behind Wichita Falls and the game ended with the Coyotes on top by an 11 point margin. For the fourteenth time in 20 games, sophomore Kevin Lee led Trinity with 17 points. Two other double figure scorers were David Bohannon and Paul Lemons with 11 and 10 respectively. 160 l Basketball Haltom 65, Trinity 49 There were two reasons why the Trojans fell to Haltom by 16 points. They were - Kevin Lee spent periods two through four with an ice pack on his leg out of the game plus the majority of the fourth period was spent at the free throw line. The Buffalo advantage mounted slowly, with the score at halftime 28-21. The third period saw Haltom's lead grow to a 12 point margin, and in fourth period of play, free throws became the name of the game as a total of 27 were attempted. Mark Griffith took scoring honors for Trinity with 16, followed by David Bohannon with 11 and Rusty Beam with 10 Trinity 54, Castleberry 48 In the final minute of regulation play, Dean Krause, Mark Griffith and Rusty Beam enabled the Trojans to overcome the Lions by 6 points. Trinity held Castleberry by a five to ten point margin until the last minute when Castleberry closed the scoring gap to 48-46, Trinity's favor. The Trojans took advantage of Castleberry's press strategy to rattle off 6 quick points to win an important zone victory. Leading the Trojan scoring were Griffith with 16 points, Bohannon with 13 and Beam with 12.

But, to the astonishment of the Rebels, the game took a total turnabout in the third period. Mark Griffith pumped in 20 points in the second half, aided by a concentrated team effort. The Trojans tied the Rebels with two minutes left in the third period when Eddie Massie canned a 20 foot jump shot. Both teams knotted the score five more times, with THS finally overpowering the Rebels for a zone win. Griffith was the high point man with 22 points followed by Lee and Massie with 12 and 10 points respectively. Rider 76, Trinity 61 The Trojans were unable to surprise the Raiders of Rider as they had the Richland Rebels four days before. A slim margin separated the teams at the end of the first quarter, but the Raiders dictated the momentum of the game the remaining three quarters. However, during the final period of action, the Trojan offense caught afire to score a whopping 19 points, giving the offense the confidence needed to compete in zone play. Both Kevin Lee and Mark Griffith scored 12 points followed by David Bohannon and Rusty Beam who each managed nine. I-Iirschi 69, Trinity 50 The score at half-time proved to be the handwriting on the wall as Hirschi topped the Trojans by 17 points. Robert Sumpter and Hugh Turner aided the Huskie cause by each contributing 15 points. High point men for Trinity were Kevin Lee and Mark Griffith with 12 points each. The game put Trinity at a 2-5 mark in district play. Trinity 64, Bell 56 The Trojans muscled their way into a three way tie for South Zone championship with the defeat of L. D. Bell. The Blue Raiders, with almost a new starting five, led Trinity by 2 points after the first period. But after a Rusty Beam follow shot and several free throws, Trinity led 20-16 with 6 minutes remaining in the half. Led by Senior Rusty Beam - high point man for the night -the Trojans whipped the Raiders 64-56.
