FARMERS HARVEST TROIA LQSS The Trojan football team started the '75 season against 3-A rival Lewisville with new assistant coaches and an inexperienced but spirited team. Led by runningback Art Longshore, the Farmers combined some fine running and key pass completions to hand the Trojans a 14-0 loss. The Farmer offense put points on the board within seven minutes after the initial kick-off thanks to two Trinity penalties plus Bo Stewart and Longshore's ground attack. A short kick- off bythe Farmers gave the Trojan offense adequate field position at the Farmer 38 yard line and the young offensive gridders went into action. Two quarterback keepers by Kyle Bookout and stout running by sophomore Chris Coffey gave the Trojans their first first down of the year. A 13 yard run put the Trojan offense in Lewisville territory, but an ensuing sneak lost eight yards and left the Trojan offense with a fourth and long situation. Trinity elected to go for the first down, but the Lewisville defense proved impregnable and Trinity was forced to surrender the ball at the Farmer 33 yard line. After a Lewisville punt and a Trojan fumble, the Farmers had the ball again. However, a Farmer aerial found its way into Trojan Marty Stover's hands and Stover's return of 25 yards set up another Trojan scoring threat that ended abruptly on the Lewisville 21 yard line due to a Trojan fumble. The Trojan defense held and after a Lewisville punt, the offense went to work with good field position on the Lewisville 35 yard line with 2:24 left in the first half. Four plays later, the Trojans were on the Farmer 10 yard line with 40 seconds left in the half. Coach Bill Bookout called a time out to discuss the situation - which paid off, for 34 seconds later the Farmers were defending a first and goal from the one yard line. With six seconds remaining on the clock, Bookout was tripped up short of the goal - the half ended, and the Trojans were never again able to threaten the Lewisville end zone. During the third quarter Lewisville maneuvered 55 yards in eight plays to add a second and final touchdown making the score 14-0. Kyle Bookout led the Trojan rushing attack with 56 yards in 17 carries, while Chris Coffey and Tim Shillings passed the 40 yard mark. s5l75T'5T'C5 .
