TRINITY HIGH SCHOOL OPERATIONAL PHILOSOPHY Trinity High School, founded in 1953, is owned and operated as an agen- cy of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Louisville, with a local school board established to set policy and oversee the general operation of the school, under the general authority of the Archdiocesan Catholic School Board and the Archbishop of Louisville. The purpose of Trinity High School is to offer all its students a quality education. Its policies, practices, and regulations are rooted in and justified on Christian principles. Integrated into the curriculum and other school ac- tivities are opportunities for religious instruction, faith community experi- ence, and service to the community. Trinity welcomes students who range from gifted to the slow learner, with preference given to teens from families that are Catholic or have a history of attending Catholic schools, and who themselves set a priority on Catholic high school education. Special effort is made to include in the Trinity student body individuals from various ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. Each student is expected to work and progress academically to the best of his abili- ty, to grow in understanding of his Christian heritage, to learn to address with Christian insight the multiple problems which face individuals and society, and to exhibit a Christian Iife-style based on love, respect and care for God, self and neighbor. Adolescents are relatively inexperienced in making deci- sions; they are often confronted with a host of conflicting values and views. In its programs of personal development, Trinity is primarily concerned with helping students become mature seIf-determining Christians capable of responsible decision making. A careful balance of discipline and freedom is essential to this program.
