TRINITY HIGH SCHOOL e 30 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE Trinity High School was founded in 1953 as a private boys' high school by the Archdiocese of Louisville. Trinity was established to meet the need for a Catholic boys' high school in the rapidly growing eastern portion of Jefferson County. The building originally housed the church and school of Holy Trinity parish. The school colors of green and white were chosen for several reasons. They were the colors of Holy Trinity parish, but the main con- sideration was that they combined the green of Saint Xavier and the white of Flaget, the two existing boys' schools at that time. The Shamrock was chosen as the school symbol because it has traditionally represented the Blessed Trinity. The first senior class graduated in 1957. Since that time, over 6,000 young men have become Trinity alumni. In only thirty years, Trinity alumni have emerged as leaders in business, medicine, religion, law and industry in communities across the country. In addition, they have at- tended some of the nation's finest colleges and universities. The tradition of excellence established at Trinity High School is growing stronger each year. The hard work and dedication of the facul- ty, students and friends of Trinity have created a sturdy foundation for the future. viii
