...-.rim if Gfass gfisiory - Picture yourselves seated in the projection room of the Trinity Production Company. A new epic picture has just been completed. Each year one of these pictures is produced and is ready for showing early in June. The name of the picture, The Class of '3 6, is a very unobtrusive one, but the title is of great significance to those concerned with its making. But now the lights are dimmed, the murmuring stops, and on the screen we see: The -Trinity High School Production Company presents, The Class of '36. The Direc-tors-The Dominican Sisters of Sinsi-nawa, Wiscon'sin The Cast-The Ofiicers and Members of the Class Now comes an account of the setting for the story. Most of the action takes place at Trinity, in the village of River Forest. An atmosphere of peace and quiet pervades the scene. The reels grind on. On a certain day, September 12, 1932, to be exact, we see a large group of very young girls mounting the steps at Trinity. A short time later we see this same group dressed in clothes that shout Initiation. Then we see them sponsor, in quick succession, a get-together party, a luncheon for their mothers, and a card party for their class. These activities definitely establish them as part of the school. Now we find them struggling along with their first semester examinations, and the-n enjoying the tranquil rest of the annual retreat. They emerge from retreat, and proceed at once to elect their class officers. At this election Jane McEvilly is chosen class president. The first reel concludes quickly, showing their party for the eighth grade pupils of the neighboring schools. S. When the second reel begins, we note the class of '36 inflicting a vigorous initiation on the eighth grade girls they had entertained the previous spring. As the picture progresses, we find that the scene has shifted. The sophomores, Page Seventeen 'Mm A ,L ,W , A ..., as i .,,,.-,....,g1,,s,,, g.-,,,L ... Alf ,r , ii

ll! JllltlQl!qL...t. ...wqvunn Jclsllugui with Chicago's Century of Progress as their inspiration, have made one of their own. All the buildings are there, even the Hall of Science. After the Century of Progress is over, we watch the sophomores enact brief scenes from the lives of the upperclassmen for the amusement of the entire school. The reel ends here. r At the beginning of the third reel, the girls, now grown-up juniors, are hold- ing their first prom, at the Medinah Michigan Avenue Club. Following the prom, we see the junior class play, In Washington's Day. In spite of the blizzard, the hall is well filled for the performance. Some of the snow of that night is stillon the ground when the juniors give their Christmas party two weeks later. At the end of this reel the juniors are found feting the seniors at the Junior-Senior luncheon. From the camera's angle, the Marine Dining Room of the Edgewater Beach Hotel looks like an immense flower garden, with the lake in the background. The fourth reel moves rapidly toward the climax. The class enters with whole-hearted energy into their work, and all school activities. Their Leap Year Tea Dance, and their prom at the Lake Shore Athletic Club are two of the-important social events. Then follows the class play, Trelawny of the Vfellsf' Luncheons are given by the juniors, and the Mothers' Club in -their honor. On Class Day we see them all at Mass in Trinity chapel. Following the Mass and Holy Communion there is the faculty breakfast. Then they go to the gym for the Class Day exercises. That night the girls hold their supper dance in the Sky Room of the Stevens Hotel. The final scene shows the triQ umphal ending of their high school career. Two by two they march up the aisle to the platform erected near the stage. In a few moments they have received their diplomas. Thus the picture of The Class of 'Son ends.
