Recently, 3 , music invaded television with music television or MTV. I t also amfcted cloth- M ing styles and hairstyles. Today, rock music has branched in many directions , f resulting in new music groups and styles. A mzbcture of Christian and rock Q Z k'xr c music developed Christian rock. Soul and rock developed Rap music and a S 2 T , ' s gif., f loud rock beat called Heavy Metal Roch. Live Aid and U .S .A. for Africa I 7 - TT aided starving countries by raising money. X Through his pleasant personality and X friendliness to students, Mr. Poplin created a 'family like atmosphere in all of his classes. f Mr. Poplin was as much of a father as a teacher to all of his students in the thirty years f he dedicated his lik to the prokssion of educa- ! 11071. Mr. Poplin retired from teaching at! Trinity High on September 30, but he will never he forgotten by the faculty and students f at Trinity He holds a special place in their hearts

Such groups as Petra, Stryper, The Front, Allies and Amy Grant were the top performers of Christian rock. It was a beat of rock but was good clean Christian music which was easy to enjoy. X f Z .1......-.. Z ' X ' Q f ,K X Rap music or Rappin' was a combination of soul music with a touch of rock-n-roll. It was started by the Su arhill Gang and Granjmaster Flash. Scratching, moving the record back and forth while it was playing, was also devel- oped. Run DMC, Fat Boys, UTFO, and Whodini were some ofthe best rappers s xkl, .rev-' 77 af A X I W '4' TX -Q-bee n Heavy S M e t a l took a big step in the 1980's. From The Who, KISS, Black Sabbath and Led Zep- pelin came such new stars as Mot- ley Crue, RATT, Twisted Sister, W.A.S.P. and Bon jooi. This type of music was very loud and was liked mostly by wild and F crazy teenagers. I t gave the word jam a new meaning. Music 19 Y
