E : B 2 : , xl - 5 St E : , v A S E : Z - - 'I - 26 Beta Club Tapping October 25, 1983 was a special day for many stu- dents at Trinity High School. As some students assem- bled in the gym they saw their arents and grandpar- ents sitting in the bleachers. At gmt moment they knew they were going to be tapped into the Beta Club. Everyone was seated and Lori Cannon led the Pledge of Alle iance. This was followed by the chorus who sang Waik Along Beside Me, Oh Lord. Barnie Gyant, president of the Beta Club, presided over this year's tapping. He lit a white candle to repkresent chant , faith, and oyalty. Afterwards, Susan Ric intro- duced, Reverend Lee Pollock, the guest speaker, who shared some of his interesting stories and serious thoughts. The candle lighting ceremony continued as Kevin Wright lit a red candle symbolizing wisdom. A blue candle was it by Debbie Morris. It represented fidelity. A black candle re resentin di ity, restraint, and seriousness was lit by Togy Pope. Timm, a old candle was lit by Kathy Spencer symbolizing work, griendship, and faithfulness. The moment then arrived as each old member used a small white candle to tap new members. The cere- mony ended on a positive note as 55 members were tapped into the Beta Club. A reception was held the night of the ta pin cere- mony to congratulate and welcome the newlfy inducted members.
