1973 Trinhian Trinity Senior High School Trinity, North Carolina i A fi 1 Like a child I just sat in the sunlight l and played with the minutes as they went running. by Like a child who had never known sorrow I didn't hurry tomorrow I just looked at the sky. While the clouds went on endlessly passing, All the clouds on their long, voyage home seemed to say that youth is everlasting but a rose cannot grow alo-nef - . . Children t find pleasure in the smallest things Iikewindy days and weeping willow trees and a running through open fields. As we grow older, we lose our childish sense of values, and our thoughts turn to more important things like war and politics and working everyday l just to make ends meet. But wouldn't it be beautiful if we could only manage to hold our childish innocense forever? l D. The highlights of the parade were the announcements of the winning floats. The Sophomore class made a good beginning by winning first place for the class float. The French Club won first place in the club competition. At halftime of the ballgame, the Band and Trinidettes presented a special program which was enjoyed by all the fans. The highlight of the halftime program was the crowning of the new Homecoming Queen by Mrs. Cindy Rains, the 1971-72 Queen. Terry Lambeth was chosen Queen from a court of fourteen girls. Terry's court consisted of Lynn Cooper, Maid of Honorg Sherry Allen, junior Attendantgand Karen Lester, Sophomore Attendent, The evening was concluded on a happy note with a Bulldog victory. 23 F Mafia K Sopho Escort dv? fm X ,fi Eff? f I .. . To learn -to know - to realize one's greatest dreams. Day by day, we constantly meet new people and share ideas: ideas that provoke new thoughts. Always learning -- but never knowing the answers to all of our questions. And it is because of these questions that we attend school. Here, we are able to compare our answers and pose new questions, and it is here that we study the reason for Man. Why is he here? Where did he come from? And with a little help from our Friend, perhaps one day we will know. i P Qs, Mr. 1. ' 137 kia Lit., - Splurging . . . sparing . . . saving . . . spending . . . Time, fortune, thoughts and people occur and vanish so swiftly. No wonder we are left standing dazzled at glimpses we catch. Realizing everyday is a new challenge and opportunity to discover and live to the fullest extent. . .The time to live is now. Don't wish away life on future promises because we know not what the future holds. So many things to do, sights to see, people to meet, places to go, songs to sing, I can't sit still. There's a restlessness inside to seek and search, l've got to find out for myself. We the staff would like to thank our promoters not only for their financial contributions but for the products they offer, opening doors of opportunity to live the lives we so desire and make our dreams realities in this ever progressing age. 92n51m4,i.- 34 . . +r'f1-W, Qiwiamsxmmf. Duke University isn't a young school. lt began in 1832 as Union School, located in Randolph County and destined to become Trinity College, Trinity High School, and eventually, Duke University. In the 1939 edition of The Trinhian, Duke University joined Trinity Senior High School in paying tribute to their mutual founders. The educators who established Union School and later Trinity College prepared the way, through their devotion to the highest educational ideals, for the emergence of Duke as a university of national stature, dedicated to the same ideals and de- termined to provide increasing opportunities for learning. Today, Duke University again expresses grati- tude to its forefathers and at the same time salutes Trinity Senior High School, in whose progress the Uni- versity feels a very special pride. It is hard to believe after all these months of preparation and hard work that this edi- tion of the Trinhian is finished. We have had a few upsets along the way like last minute collection of money to meet the budget, three trips to Hunter Publishing Company in one week, and 2:00 A.M. typing sessions to finish copy by the deadline, but we survived. I would like to thank the members of the faculty who have been so patient with us for the many interruptions of their classes. To the following people, I owe a special thanks for their many long hours of dedicated work: Karen King for her many Saturday mornings she gave up trying to finish photographing Homecoming attendants. Donna Yow for her 4:00 A.M. mornings trying to finish the Encounters Section. Marlene Coggins for trying to liven up the Commitments section. Vena Dixon, Patsy Passmore, and Rhonda Stradley for their willingness to help when- ever I needed them. james Baker for taking care of the financial problems. lane Andrews and lacquelyn Beeson who gave many long hours to type the copy. And especially to lack Welch and Susan Von Cannon for listening to me complain all year and their willingness to help me out when I was in a bind. With the help of these people and the rest of the staff, I hope we have created an an- nual that everyone will enjoy and be proud of. We have tried to capture school life as it happens and to tell it like it really is. To lack and next year's annual staff, good luck. I assure you many long hours of work are ahead of you but your determination and imagination should produce an excellent book. I am glad it is all over. Editor -4- Ihom 63' QSLUL :px w 'J 132' -A. J?
